![Healing Hearts Ministries Internaional [LOGO]](https://www.healinghearts.org/nimages/HHLetterhead_Web700.png) Dear Friend, About six years ago I was offered the opportunity to facilitate a Healing Hearts group at Washington Correction Center for Women (WCCW). At WCCW, there are about nine hundred incarcerated women. Many look like the women I see daily at my work place or church. Some are moms, some are married, some divorced, and some have college degrees. Most are under the age of thirty. I did not expect to receive so many blessings by working with these women. I was also surprised when I saw that they are not much different from me. For the last three years, Maria Rose (my assistant) and I have been the Healing Hearts team at the prison. We have attended security trainings, shared our testimonies at church services, and facilitated several Binding Up the Broken Hearted post abortion studies. It's been amazing to see God soften the hardest of hearts and to pray with women to receive Christ into their lives. Many have come to the realization that their crimes started after their abortions. Drugs were used to numb the emotional pain. To get the drugs, they often commit crimes, like theft and prostitution. They had no idea how much their abortions had affected them. We currently have a post-abortion group with two women. For four months we spend five hours each Sunday evening traveling and meeting with the women. We pass through security much like airport security. We meet in a small chapel and must follow many rules like, no chewing gum, no hugging, no clicking pens, etc. It's a treat when I bring them soft tissue to dry their tears. One of the ladies in our group is sentenced to a lifetime sentence with no parole for the murder of her mother. While in prison, she had lesbian relationships and did everything she could to get into trouble. Then, she met Jesus Christ. She shares, "I completely hit rock bottom. I cried out and told God if You are real, then kill me or help be because I can't go on." God answered and now she is excited to share how Jesus has changed her life. She is a new creation! She came to the post-abortion group after hearing our testimonies. She realized that her abortions were a secret that kept her in an emotional prison of guilt and shame. She gives God the Glory for loving her and bringing her to Healing Hearts. Her heart is free! Please pray for the Healing Hearts prison ministry. Pray for the hurting women that God brings to us. Pray that God allows us continue to be a light in the darkness.
