The freshness of spring abounds (especially after such a cold and snowy winter)! Senior graduation plans are being finalized and it is also a time to celebrate Moms. Many of us send cards, flowers or gifts of gratitude to our biological or adoptive moms and some of us have "spiritual mammas" that we honor and celebrate as well. This month, we want to share with you the story of a mom and her three daughters who have been celebrating the Savior as they walk together through the First Love Bible study. Julie shares: "I am so happy to be doing the [First Love] study with my girls. They are 21 - 16 - 19. I make them a special dinner on Mondays and then we sit down to do the study. I thought it would be fun to let each of them take turns leading our time together. I interject when I want to go deeper with them and ask certain questions. It has been wonderful to see them take on this role of leading our discussions each week. I'll share a few insights from our time of study together. My 16 year old says she relates personally to the topics we are going through. Each time we meet she tells me that what she learned relates to exactly what she is going through at the time! [At Healing Hearts, this is something we hear from our clients often. God loves to meet us right where we are through His Word.] Last week was very convicting to her regarding the influence of media and the world and how differently God views the things often presented in media. This topic was helpful for me as well. My 19 year old has also been convicted to make a lifestyle change during the study. She hadn't realized what was at the root of something she had been involved in. She came to the understanding that it was not honoring to God, so she quit participating in it. And, my 21 year old said she had never viewed God as her first love. She now desires to make Him her first love. God is using this study at a perfect time for me and my children." I remember Julie sharing with me how excited she was to disciple her daughters all together. I believe it was her 16 year old who said, "This is actually fun!" Of course we have had other women using First Love with young ladies who were not their daughters, yet they still witnessed God working incredibly in these young hearts! Some of these young ladies have been broken by sexual abuse, but their mentors are seeing God's healing through His Word. One mentor witnessed her young cousin come to Christ as she finally realized that she is a sinner in need of a Savior. Another mentor said that the mom of a young lady who had been sexually abused was witnessing such an incredible change in her daughter that the mom now wants to go through The Hem of His Garment Bible study. Glory to God! He is healing families! I continue to receive emails from moms who are heartbroken over the things that their children are witnessing in the lives of their peers at school. Occasionally, I hear of young ladies who are struggling to make it just one more day. There is hope available, but we need your help to spread the word.
