Dear Friend,


January is the month designated to promoting the sanctity of life. It is exciting to be part of a ministry which has the opportunity to share this message as many of our post-abortive leaders will share their testimonies in local churches this month across the nation. It is equally exciting to walk with a woman as she goes through our post-abortion Bible study, Binding Up the Brokenhearted. Seeing God reclaim the truth of the sanctity of life in her heart during this time of study in His Word is a feeling of excitement quite like no other.

I recently had the pleasure of taking a friend through our Bible study who had had her abortion 22 years ago. She is a godly woman who serves alongside her husband in leadership at church. When she shared with me for the first time that she too was post-abortive, I offered to take her through our Bible study. In the beginning she was a little hesitant to do so, saying words that I often hear from Christian women who have not yet gone through our Bible study. Statements like: "I know that Jesus has forgiven me for my abortion.", "I believe that I have already received God's healing for my sin that I confessed and repented of so many years ago.", "I'm just not sure that I should dig all of that back up."

With a little bit of encouragement my friend agreed to go through the study and the results were life-changing! As we walked through the chapters regarding what God's Word says about life in the womb, and also regarding the idolatry of the heart in a person who is willing to abort their unborn child, God brought tremendous healing to her as she realized she had sacrificed her precious baby to the idol of the fear of man.

I recall, with such sweetness, her words over and over again as we met one-on-one, "That was my baby. That was my baby! I have never put a pronoun before 'baby'. I have often simply stated 'I took a life' or 'I killed a baby'. That was my baby that I aborted!" It was as if a darkened corner of her heart suddenly had a window thrown open, where sunlight came flooding in to brighten it. She grieved like never before over the loss of her own baby. She is now able to verbalize that she has 3 children, not just 2. She was able to value and celebrate her unborn child's life. Oh, the preciousness of the sanctity of life! After working through the final chapter in the Bible study, she now openly talks about her abortion, the Lord's wonderful mercy, and grace through forgiveness. She wants to share about the tragedy of the sin of abortion with other women who will listen. God has truly bound up her broken heart, given her beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. (See Isaiah 61:1-3)

Her testimony puts an exclamation mark on the idea that every woman or man who is post-abortive, especially if they are in church leadership, needs to go through the Healing Hearts Ministries post-abortion Bible study: Binding Up the Brokenhearted (for women) and Wounded Warrior (for men).

Please consider sharing about the ministry of Healing Hearts with those who serve in church leadership or anyone who needs hope and healing from abortion through God's Word during this month designated for the promotion of the Sanctity of Life.

This dear sister in the Lord, with new-found healing, wrote a touching poem to her aborted child while going through the Bible study. With permission, I have copied it here to share with you.

A Complete Act

In one Complete Act I chose self above all
In one Complete Act truth was far off
In one Complete Act I turned my back upon God
In one Complete Act life was no more.

Now what remains is a path set in stone
But because of my God I do not walk it alone
Memories will always be a part of my life
But the one I remember most is when God created LIFE.
