We know that there are many worthy causes that deserve your time and giving and we are grateful for your time and financial sacrifice that enables us to "Bind up the Brokenhearted." For the past ten weeks all of the leadership in healing hearts has dedicated one day a week for fasting and prayer to seek the Lord for wisdom and direction for our ministry. This week will be our last week where we will end our time of prayer and fasting with a leadership retreat. Please keep me and my Regional Directors in your prayers as we meet together August 15-20 to seek the Lord for wisdom and direction. We live in exciting and yet turbulent times. Only God knows what lies before us so we must be prepared. That is why we pray and fast and seek the Lord for direction and wisdom. The Apostle Paul said it well in 2 Timothy Chapter 3:1-5, "But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; holding to a form of godliness although they have denied it's power; and avoid such men as these." I don't think there has ever been a time when scripture described our society as accurately as this scripture does. Even men in our highest elected offices have become brutal haters of good, malicious gossips, lovers of pleasure and are found without self control. May God have mercy on our country! What's more alarming to me than the actions of our elected officials is how uneducated the Christian community is when it comes to politics and their faith. I've had conversations with several Christians in recent months who voted for candidates based on emotion rather than morality and fact. Somehow when we open the door to the voting box we close the door to our faith. It's amazing to me how many professing Christians I know voted for a pro-choice candidate or a candidate who promotes gay marriage not understanding the moral implications of their actions. When we place our vote for such candidates we are basically putting our stamp of approval on the very things that God hates and we will stand accountable before God. Although I have to say that after educating my Christian friends on the importance of voting according to their faith, and why that is so important, they were very receptive and eager to go and check out each candidate so they could make a moral, intelligent decision. We all have an obligation to educate one another on these issues. Please don't keep silent when it comes to politics and don't remain ignorant and vote with your emotions rather than your morals. Morally we are on the edge of a cliff and I believe economically that is why we on the verge of collapse. No man can fix this problem. We need to call on God. 2 Chronicles 7:12-15 "Then the LORD appeared to Solomon at night and said to him, "I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for My-self as a house of sacrifice. If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now, My eyes shall be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place." Psalm 5:1-12 "Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my groaning. Heed the sound of my cry for help, my King and my god, for to Thee do I pray. In the morning, O Lord, Thou wilt hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to Thee and eagerly watch. For Thou art not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; No evil dwells with Thee. The boastful shall not stand before Thine eyes; Thou dost hate all who iniquity. Thou dost destroy those who speak falsehood; the LORD abhors the man of bloodshed and deceit. But as for me, by Thine abundant loving kindness I will enter Thy house, At Thy holy temple I will bow in reverence for Thee O LORD, lead me in thy righteousness because of my foes; Make Thy way straight before me. There is nothing reliable in what they say; Their inward part is destruction itself; Their throat is an open grave; They flatter with their tongue. Hold them guilty, O god; By their own devices let them fall! In the multitude of their transgressions thrust them out, For they are rebellious against Thee. But let all who take refuge in Thee be glad, Let them ever sing for joy; and mayest Thou shelter them, That those who love Thy name may exult in Thee. For it is Thou who dost bless the righteous man, O LORD, Thou dost surround him with favor as withy a shield." Please join us and pray for our country and the upcoming election. Let's not leave God out of the voting box but prayerfully consider each man we vote into office and make sure he loves the things that God loves and hates the things that He hates. Also, please prayerfully consider a monthly gift to Healing Hearts so that we can make a difference in the lives of those who are broken. May the Lord bless and keep you always.
