May 2009 Prayer Letter

Dear Friend,
This past month I received an email on a report issued by Homeland Security that deeply concerned me. After much prayer, I felt that the Lord wanted me to include this information in this month's prayer letter.
A newly unclassified Department of Homeland Security report http://wnd.com/images/dhs-rightwing-extremism.pdf warns against the possibilities of violence by unnamed "right-wing extremists" concerned about illegal immigration, increased federal power, restrictions on firearms, abortion and the loss of U. S. sovereignty, and singles out returning war veterans as particular threats.
The report, titled "Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment", dated April 7th 2009, states that "threats from white supremacist and violent anti-government groups during 2009 have been largely rhetorical and have not indicated plans to carry out violent acts." However, the document, first reported by talk radio host Roger Hedgecock, goes on to suggest worsening economic woes, potential new legislative restrictions on firearms and "the return of military veterans facing significant challenges reintegrating into their communities could lead to the potential emergency of terrorist groups or lone wolf extremists capable of carrying out violent acts."
The report from DHS Office of Intelligence and Analysis defines right-wing extremism in the U. S. as "divided into those groups, movements and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups) and those that are mainly anti-government, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration."
When I first read this information, a bit of fear set in because it is obvious that we are just one more step closer to losing the freedoms that our forefathers fought and died for, but then as I prayed and claimed the truth that is in God's Word, I felt peace in my heart. God's Word tells us in II Timothy 1:7 that "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind". We are not to look at the things of this world but to keep our focus on God, knowing that He is sovereign and in control of all things.
This also reminds me that history repeats itself. In Daniel chapter 3, King Nebuchadnezzar made an image of gold and proclaimed that at the moment the people heard the sound of the music, that they were to fall down and worship the golden image, and that whoever did not fall down would immediately be cast into the midst of the furnace of blazing fire. The people of the land obeyed except for three Jewish boys who trusted and obeyed Jehovah God. The King confronted them about their disobedience in Daniel 3:15, saying "'But if you will not worship, you will immediately be cast into the midst of a furnace of blazing fire; and what god is there who can deliver you out of my hands?'
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego answered 'Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to give you an answer concerning this. If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.'"
Most everyone knows that the three boys were cast into the furnace of blazing fire. The furnace was so hot that according to verse 22, "the flame of the fire slew those men who carried them." Verse 24 says that King Nebuchadnezzar stood in haste and said, "Was it not three men we cast bound into the midst of the fire?", verse 25 "Look! I see four men loosed and walking about in the midst of the fire without harm, and the appearance of the fourth is like the son of the gods!" Verse 27 tell us that not only did the fire have no effect on the men, but not one hair of their head was singed, nor were their trousers damaged, nor had the smell of the fire even come upon them.
The result of their faith and obedience was that a wicked king responded in verse 28, "Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, who has sent His angel and delivered His servants who put their trust in Him, violating the king's command, and yielded up their bodies so as not to serve or worship any god except their own God."
When our government tells us that we have to forsake our faith and that we can not speak the truth in love or come against evil, will we be like the three boys or will we follow the crowd in fear? Do we believe that our God is sovereign and that He will protect us if we are obedient to follow Him with all of our hearts? Will our government and its leaders be so astounded by our faith and obedience that they will say, "Blessed be their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ?" I pray so! I pray that each and every one of us will be so committed to God and His Word that all they will see is Jesus in us and that they will have no choice but to bow down and worship the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
Please pray for us as a ministry. We will never stop telling the world that abortion is sin and that the shedding of innocent blood is an abomination to our God, that homosexuality and pornography are sin and are an abomination to our God, and that without faith in Jesus Christ, there is no hope or healing, only eternal fire, where the worm dies not and thirst is never quenched. Pray that as we reach out to the broken, that souls will be redeemed. Pray that God will give us strength, wisdom and courage to do the work that He has called us to do. Most of all, pray that we will never take the glory that only belongs to our God. God never promised us that it would be easy, but He did promise that He would never leave us nor forsake us. Just as He was with the three boys in the blazing furnace, He is with us also until the end of the age.
We are so thankful for your prayers and for your financial support. We know that there are many organizations worthy of your support and we are blessed that you choose to give to us. We promise to be good stewards of those gifts. May the Lord bless and keep you always.
In His love
