We want to thank you for your prayers and support of this mission. Here is a report on what was accomplished. Mission Ukraine/Holland 2008 By Teresa Rinker ~ Foreign Missions Director How blessed we were to have your prayers on our missionary journey this past month! Barb Riedberger and I traveled "solo", meeting up at the Borispol/ Kiev International Airport on April 1, 2008. We quickly settled in to our room at the Christ Cathedral Church and the following morning, were greeted by 93 women, eager to hear about the ministry of Healing Hearts. Each of these women are key women's ministry leaders with the Baptist Union, representing every region in Ukraine. Barb and I passionately educated them as to the statistics of abortion in Ukraine and the history of our ministry there. Through our testimonies we gave them a peek into the heart of the post abortive woman and details of how abortion affects marriage and families. Valentina Razneechenko, our key leader in Ukraine shared about ongoing ministry in Ukraine and had two women share their testimonies of hope and healing after going through our Bible Study. We challenged these women to partner with us by talking about post abortion trauma within their churches and to help us raise up leaders to plant Healing Hearts within every church in Ukraine. We encouraged them to seek healing for their own lives and also to share with others. We also challenged them to bring the news of this ministry to the Pastor's in their regions and that they have the blessing of the Baptist Union to do so. Each leader left with our Covenant Information Packet and two Healing Hearts Bible Studies. The following day we traveled twelve hours by train to Odessa, which is located on the Black Sea, in South East Ukraine. We settled into our living quarters at the Baptist Seminary and while in Odessa we:
Traveling back to Kiev, we attended a meeting of Pro Life Ministries and with Larysa Ploskonis from Life International we held another all day women's event with four churches in Kiev. Many women came to us and through tears, shared their personal need for healing, as well as the need for this ministry, within their churches. Each woman left with one Bible Study and a Covenant Information Packet for each church represented. Please pray that the Lord would bring a great harvest from this trip and that partnering with the Baptist Union (key prayer) , His vision would go forth and become reality for the Ukrainian people. Upon leaving Ukraine we journeyed to Holland to the home of Johan and Carolyn Ros. Warmly greeted, we transitioned into speaking English again (no small feat) and to a completely different mission field. While there we had opportunity to meet with Burt Dorenbos, the Director of Cry for Life, a CPC in Hilversum, Holland. This was very beneficial as they see the huge need for our ministry and have prayed for the healing of the church. He was able to give us information on Holland abortion statistics and laws which will be so beneficial to our mission. Because English is taught as a second language in the schools in Holland and presently we are working with an International Church where English is spoken, our materials are able to be used without translation (for now!). While there, we held an informational "mini" three day training with six people who have been through our Bible Studies. All of these people are staff members, elders and leaders in the church and are now very familiar with our ministry philosophy and esteem of the Word of God. Barb and I believe that through their influence and the availability of the web ministry, God will raise up leaders for all three Bible Studies in Holland. It is our hope to return in one year to do an "official training" with many who will go through the studies in the next year. As you can see the focus of this journey was to "grow" the ministry to a greater degree and that God opened doors for many opportunities as we walked through those doors in faith. Please continue to pray for both of these mission fields as we continue our communications via email over the next year.
