 Did you know that April is Abortion Awareness Recovery Month? A number of ministries and churches will be participating, hoping to accomplish two goals: to extend healing to those hurting from abortion and to enlighten society on the harmful effects of abortion on individuals and families.
At Healing Hearts, our post-abortive leaders can truly understand and relate to the emotional and physical symptoms that affect women and men who have made the decision to abort their child. These symptoms can be paralyzing, and they can lead to overwhelming shame, guilt, depression, and confusion.
Today, we hear many women say, "My body, my choice," believing they are the only ones who are impacted by their decision. The dreadful truth is that abortion affects every life it touches; the consequences for those making the choice (women and men) can lead to guilt, shame, depression, isolation, anger, and bitterness toward others. For the unborn babies, their life was stolen.
But we know the Lord’s hand is not too short to save, even in these circumstances (Isaiah 59:1).
In fact, Psalm 147:3 reminds us that God "heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." The healing is God’s work, and when He does it, He does it completely. The wonderful truth about a fully healed heart is that it affects every life it touches, too. Friends and family members, co-workers, and communities get to witness a radical change and ask, “What changed?” Our greatest joy is witnessing how every heart that is healed is a transformed heart ready to serve and proclaim the Good News! What better way to spread the Gospel than through restored hearts?
Through our post-abortive bible studies, Binding Up the Brokenhearted and Restoring a Father’s Heart, women and men are encouraged to seek healing from the Only One who can mend hearts broken by sin and the consequences of abortion. Consider these recent testimonies:
 “When I was first saved by Jesus, I thought I would go to the grave with my abortion story. I was so filled with shame regarding my sin and the relationship I had found myself in during and after my abortion. I didn`t believe the Christian community would accept me, but the Lord has been faithful to pursue me time and time again. He is always calling us higher. If you’re wondering whether or not you should begin this study, this is your sign! The Lord is calling you! Let go, and allow Christ to work in your life. You won’t regret it!” — A.E.
 “I have known about Healing Hearts for about 13 years now. I also know of several men and women who have gone through the study. But I never gave it a second thought until I participated in an abortion prayer walk. At that time, it really struck me what act I had participated in 30 years ago. This study helped me find the way to deal with the inner feelings that I had kept inside of me. It dealt with all aspects of life and how to deal with them biblically. This study is a life-changer, and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for help from their abortion sin.” —Dan
Every year, our Healing Hearts counselors organize Walk for Freedom events to pray for their local communities and individuals who are impacted by abortion, like Dan and A.E. The goal of every walk is to raise awareness about the often unseen needs of the brokenhearted and how Healing Hearts offers hope and healing. At the same time, the walks also help raise much-needed prayer and financial support for our ministry so that we can continue to reach more hurting people with Jesus Christ’s message of hope.

Pray that the Lord would cause our world to stop pursuing the destructive path of abortion and turn to Him instead.
