Dear Friend,
Pro-lifers in the U.S. may have experienced a miniscule moment of hope in the midst of the global pandemic: Abortion services would surely be deemed non-essential, thus saving thousands of pre-born babies lives. Yet not one state was able to successfully restrict all abortions as non-essential. Abortion clinic doors across the country would remain flung open—perhaps seeing record numbers as concerns surrounding Covid-19 mounted with each passing day. Since many decisions to abort are based on financial concerns or family instability, how much more so during the pandemic?
As the majority of sidewalk counselors were staying “safe at home” under executive orders, women were able to breathe a little easier as they walked into clinics completely unhindered. However, the guilt and shame that inevitably followed them as they walked out of those clinics is still there.
Often, women who have had abortions want to hide. With the requirement of mask-wearing in most states, they don’t have to worry about throwing on an emotional “mask” because they have a cloth one that does the job. The barista at your local coffee shop can hide the pain she feels from the abortion she had the morning before. Should she begin to cry, the tears will simply soak into her face-covering. The cashier, who is a wife and a mom, keeps her eyes down as she scans your groceries. You won’t be able to notice her quivering lip behind the mask as she tries to convince herself that the abortion was necessary because her husband was furloughed for who knows how long.
What about the women who don’t want to hide—the ones who would normally run to someone for help? For months, the young college student who hooked up on Tinder and then found out that she was pregnant hasn’t been able to see the friendly woman at church who has gained her trust. The church that offers biblical counseling has only just begun to open their counseling center again for one-on-one meetings.
The truth is, abortion has not gone away. The shutdowns have changed the way we do a variety of things. But one thing that has not been shut down by the pandemic is the gospel of Jesus Christ! At Healing Hearts Ministries, we haven’t been shut down. In fact, our online ministry as strong as ever. Due to our incredible online ministry platform (our “e-ministry”), we haven’t skipped a beat in reaching out to women and men who are hurting through all the chaos and confusion of 2020. Our Certified Healing Hearts Counselors have been able to continue leading post-abortive women through our Binding Up the Brokenhearted study, reaching post-abortive men through our Restoring a Father’s Heart study, and addressing other women’s abuse and hurt issues through our The Hem of His Garment study.
One thing that has changed in ministry for us is that our primary means of making people aware of our services—churches announcing our Bible studies—has not been available. With many churches not meeting in person, these opportunities to connect people to our ministry have been lessened.
We need your help to get the word out that Healing Hearts is available and ready to come alongside the brokenhearted.
- Tell someone about Healing Hearts! Bring us up in a conversation. Gift our “Heart Reflections” devotional. Or Like and Share our Facebook page: facebook.com/healingheartsministriesinternational
- Donate! We want to invest in placing ads with more social media outlets. There are costs associated with producing quality videos and buying the placements where those who need to hear the message of hope can be reached. Your one-time or monthly donation to our “Supporting Healing Hearts” fund will help us afford those efforts: healinghearts.org/donate
- Pray! Commit to daily prayer asking that the Lord would help our efforts to reach more broken people with the healing and freedom that can only be found in His Word. Ask that God would open doors for you to share about Healing Hearts within your circles of influence. Pray that our online e-ministry would remain stable and effective and that our planned e-ministry retooling project will be successful. Ask, too, that the Lord would protect our Healing Hearts leaders’ health throughout this ongoing pandemic. Your prayers make a difference!
Thank you for being a partner in this ministry to the brokenhearted. May God bless and keep you always.

SPECIAL PROJECT: Help us increase our reach! COVID-19 has presented our ministry with new challenges, but also with a bigger vision to meet those challenges and expand our global reach. Social distancing restrictions continue to prevent many of our face-to-face small groups from gathering, but we’ve thankfully been able to lead groups through our online Bible study interface (our “e-ministry”). While the core of this interface is still useful, there are some key upgrades we need to make in order to reach even more people in the season ahead. You can help us do this!
