I don’t know how many times I’ve had to answer with those words over the last decade of ministry when someone brings me a new opportunity to expand into a new country. It always pains me every time I do because what my heart really wants to shout is “YES! We can help!” What’s holding us back? More often than not, it’s an issue of logistics and infrastructure. More simply put, we don’t have the tools or people in place to manage launching and sustaining the ministry in a country where we don’t have established leaders. Even more crucial, we can’t successfully support and maintain clients in countries where we are not able to ship supplies affordably. These have been constant barriers to us over the years and it is a constant hope and prayer of mine that this would change one day. Well… that “day” may be “today”. Keep reading to learn how… Maybe we can...? As we’ve mentioned in recent letters, the disruption of COVID-19 has actually served to inspire some new developments in our ministry (More Romans 8:28 evidence that our God certainly does work ALL things for good). One of “good” He has inspired has been the acceleration of a redesign/retooling of our E-Ministry tool (online counseling). And in the process of this redesign, we’re discovering an exciting new ability to allow a Healing Hearts Counselor or study participant to print out a page-for-page copy of their study. Why is this “print-on-demand” option so exciting? It defeats one of the key issues behind our “No, we can’t go there right now…” predicament - lack of affordable distribution. Mailing studies to counselors within the US is no trouble; we have a robust ministry reach to afford printing the studies in bulk, an office to store the boxes and boxes of stock, and the staff to mail them through a low-cost mail delivery method. That infrastructure works. But shipping internationally (even to Canada) is quite expensive. Unless we have the option to print, store, process and deliver the studies within a country, it quickly becomes too costly to operate – especially in the early stages of establishing the ministry when outreach numbers are low. Now can you see why a page-for-page, print-on-demand option excites me? Saying “YES! We can help!” to an individual longing to bring Healing Hearts to Spain becomes 10 times more plausible with a sustainable model like this. She won’t be hampered by the lack of local infrastructure. She can simply be trained as a Certified Healing Hearts Counselor to then freely go out and plant one heart at a time. Another item that has held us back from saying “YES! We can help!” has been the lack of an all-purpose counseling study for our men. Our Restoring a Father’s Heart study has been an effective tool for reaching our post-abortive men. But what about the young husband in the grips of pornography or the father trying to find healing from the scars left in his abusive childhood? I cannot say enough about how faithful and creative our male Healing Hearts Counselors have been over the year to adapt the post-abortive study to serve these other types of men’s issues. But we’ve long wanted to write an all-purpose counseling study for men, much like our The Hem of His Garment study does in serving women from all trauma backgrounds. We have some parts and pieces written for a study we’ve titled The Touch of the Master’s Hand, but we still have a long ways to go to bring it to fruition (not to mention the eventual publication costs). Still, I’m hopeful that God will open this door soon. YES! You can help us reach these “Yes!
