Back in May, a small group of dads and sons in Kentucky completed The Fight of Your Life: Living for God’s Glory Bible study for young men. I’d like to share what one dad and son had to say about their journey together through God’s Word: “This Bible study with my son was the most amazing period of growth in my Christian life! We covered many difficult subjects—sexuality, drugs and alcohol, suicide, and many more—things I never would have brought up with my son on my own. As a group, we also learned how to pray and live our lives for Christ. My son and I grew closer to God and to each other. Now I truly understand just how closely Jesus walks with us in our daily lives. Many issues that I worry about as a father, such as preparing my son for his adult life, were addressed. I was also encouraged by other dads and their sons as we studied together. I feel blessed to have had this opportunity with my son.”  — Dan Esterline (Dad) “Going through this Bible study, I learned so much about living the Christian life. The thing that stood out to me the most was the teaching about sacrificial serving. Before doing this study, I focused way too much on my own comfort. Through the study, I came to realize just how selfish I had been, especially as a son. I was not glorifying God by focusing on myself. I know now how important it is to sacrifice my own comfort in order to serve my parents and others. By doing this, I am glorifying God. Whenever I struggle with this concept, I remember how much Jesus sacrificed for me.” — Devin Esterline (Son)  Are you encouraged by this testimony? We certainly are!It is exciting to see how God is using this Bible study for young men. Of course, we also still have many church groups and mom and daughter groups using the First Love: Embracing a Love that Lasts Bible study for young women. To the right is a recent photo taken of a First Love group in Washington State working through an activity together.  Not only is God using our youth materials in churches and homes across the country, He is even using it in an inner city after-school Bible club. Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with Ms. M, who teaches high school students in Detroit.  Last year, Ms. M reached out to us about the possibility of receiving a donation of our youth materials so that her students could get into God’s Word on topics she knew they were struggling with. At first, we had to decline her request because we simply didn’t have it in the budget to donate the materials. My heart couldn’t rest with turning down such a need and huge opportunity to partner in ministry. I took to social media to request a donation from my Facebook friends of $300 to cover the materials and shipping. That need was met in less than 24 hours! Think of how many teens we could reach if those with willing hearts could give to Ms. M and others like her, to help at-risk teens and their families!Ms. M told me that not only were students showing up for the Bible study, but other teachers and some parents were also coming. God is moving in Detroit! Could you help us reach even more teens and their families? Please pray for this high school in Detroit and their after-school program, which will start back up in October. As parents and teachers seek to educate and prepare them for their future, will our youth be learning about the God of the Universe who created them for His glory?
