Dear Friend,
During the last several weeks my heart has grown heavy as I have watched the nightly news reporting the devastating things that are happening in our country and around the world. Like many of you, my heart goes out to the families of the victims of the Virginia Tech massacre. Having lost a teenage son, I know all too well that their grieving has only just begun. May God be with them in the years to come as they heal from this terrible tragedy.
Here in the greatest nation in the world, over 51 million babies have lost their lives to abortion, leaving behind women and men who desperately need the healing touch of Jesus Christ. We are reminded daily that we still have not seen the gulf coast rebuilt after hurricane Katrina and even more disasters have occurred since Katrina. Comments made by Don Imus about the Rutgers women's basketball team has incited heated debate regarding how degrading the Rap music and video industry is toward women and that the language used in these venues is inexcusable. Yet, in the midst of tragedy, we still see victories. For the first time, in a 5-4 Supreme Court ruling, partial birth abortion was banned nationwide, bringing the issue back into the forefront of our nation's consciousness.
I believe God is trying to tell us something. There has never been a time since God sent John the Baptist, when people have been more in need of salvation through Jesus Christ, than this present age. A watered down, candy coated gospel will not heal, it will not deliver and more importantly, it will not bring salvation. God is exposing a lukewarm Western church. Several years ago a missionary from Papua New Guinea came to a church I was visiting and made this statement, "We here in the United States have so westernized the gospel, it no longer has any power." That statement pierced my heart and, because it is true, I will never forget it. We must steadfastly cling to the unadulterated Gospel of Jesus Christ for therein lies the power of God.
We covet your prayers and your financial support. Please pray for the following requests.
|
- Prison Ministry - The Chaplain that we were working with at Dwight Women's Correctional Facility is no longer there. The new Chaplain is not as supportive so please pray that God will grant us favor to continue the great work He has done and is doing there.
- New Trainees - Ten ladies just completed the first step of training to become HH leaders. Pray for them as they move forward to establish their ministries in their local churches.
- Missions - God has opened a huge door for us in Uganda and there are numerous requests for a Healing Hearts presence there. Please pray for Uganda as well as our current ministries in the Ukraine and Australia, that God would give us wisdom in prioritizing other outreaches and mission opportunities.
- E-Ministry - Pray for unsaved clients that they would come to know Jesus and that God would touch every client and heal their wounded hearts.
- Golf Benefit - We have made changes to our Golf Benefit this year and have moved it to Saturday, June 30th. If you would be interested in helping us raise much needed support for Healing Hearts, please register through our website at http://www.healinghearts.org/golf/. Your participation would be a blessing.
- Walks for the Wounded Heart - June 3-9 we are declaring "Walk for the Wounded Heart Week." If you would like to do a prayer walk in your community and help us raise funds for Healing Hearts you can register on our web site at http://www.healinghearts.org/walk/.
- Regional Mentor Annual Meeting - July 12-15 we will be holding our Regional Mentor Meeting and Board Meeting. Please pray for both meetings. Our six Regional Mentors work hard to disciple leaders throughout the year so this is their time to be ministered to, filled up and sent out to continue to minister to others. Please pray for the Board that we will receive wisdom from the Lord regarding plans for 2008.
- International Trademark - The trademark has been filed, please pray that it will be approved.
- Ministry Facility - Pray as we search for a facility to meet our needs.
- Web Development - Pray for Sally Lancaster as she continues to develop our web site. Pray for wisdom, direction and good health for Sally.
