Dear Friend,
This world would say there are few things that fit the definition of "sanctity" or "sacred" anymore. However, for Christians there are many wonderfully sacred things in this world. One of the most sacred, if not the most sacred, is human life.
The authority of Scripture shows us that all human beings are created in God`s image, and because of this each one of us has sanctity.
"So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." – Genesis 1:27
James 3:9 – "With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God`s likeness."
Sadly, when a man or woman has disregarded the sanctity of pre-born life by having an abortion, a condemning conscience will offer no hope apart from Christ. As a result, he or she may make the heartbreaking decision to take their own life.
Such was the case for Charlotte Dawson, an Australian TV personality who was newly married to Scott Miller, a swimmer and Sydney Olympics 2000 hopeful. Upon becoming unexpectedly pregnant after they wed, the couple discovered the baby`s due date fell right in the middle of Scott`s Olympic dreams, so Charlotte was pressured to abort. (You can read more of their story in LifeSite`s article: healinghearts.org/links/lifesite-article)
In the article, which cites her 2012 autobiography Air Kiss & Tell, Charlotte describes how the abortion traumatized her to the point of depression, which later precipitated her suicide:
"When I got home [from the abortion], I felt that something had changed. I felt a shift. Maybe it was hormonal, but I felt the early tinges of what I can now identify as my first experience with depression."
To be sure, there were other complications in their marriage...as there always seems to be. But as Charlotte`s story reminds us, abortion is a sinful, complicated mess with sinful, messy complications preceding it that can obsure God`s sanctity of human life in a dark shroud. Yet, God pulls back this dark shroud with the Light of His Word assuring us of the sanctity of human life...every life involved...baby, mother, and father.
As those facing an unplanned pregnancy consider their choices, are we being Light-bearers, offering biblical answers for upholding the sanctity of life? At the same time, are we extending practical help and incredible hope in Christ? What about the post-abortive man or woman who may be drowning in depression and considering suicidal ideations? Are we offering abundant healing in Jesus Christ so that his or her life might be saved?
Each one of the Healing Hearts Bible studies addresses the deepest issues of the heart surrounding past hurts and the temptation to take one`s own life. The knowledge of having violated the sanctity of life can be excruciatingly painful and overwhelm the soul with condemnation. You and I know that there is freedom, forgiveness and healing in Christ. But, does everyone who is hurting know where to find this great HOPE?
Please join us in proclaiming the Good News of Christ to those who are sitting in darkness because of a past abortion. We need your help in order to reach them!

As always, thank you for helping us make a difference through your gifts of time, prayer, and finances. Your one-time gift or monthly commitment of $25, $50 or more make this ministry possible.
May God bless you in this New Year as you help to share His Good News with a world in need.
In His Service,

(*In 1984, President Ronald Reagan established January 22 as National Sanctity of Human Life Day to coincide with the U.S. Supreme Court`s decision to legalize abortion-on-demand in all 50 states on January 22, 1973.) |
