Dear Friend,


One day in Heaven I will be able to see and comprehend the awesome and complete picture of His love, grace and mercy for me. . . but in the meantime I am so blessed to be a Healing Hearts counselor, seeing little glimpses of heaven shining right down here on earth in the lives of women who are desperate for Jesus' healing in their lives.

Every time I lead a Healing Hearts Bible study, God seems to draw back the curtains a little wider so that I can see more of His love, grace and mercy as He teaches me more about Himself through these precious women He is redeeming.

I'd like to tell you about one of the women I had the pleasure of taking through the Binding Up the Brokenhearted post-abortion bible study. . .

When I first met Cassandra she was very quiet. As I looked into her eyes I could see the sadness and anxiety she was feeling. Though she was a self-admitted agnostic, she told me she knew she needed help. . . even if that help might be "Christianity."

Cassandra had just had an abortion eight months before we started meeting. Her life was not the same. She thought she must be some kind of evil person and had started drinking a lot. She said she would give this study a try, but would let me know if it wasn't right for her.

Of course, God already knew Cassandra was in the exact place she needed to be. While working through the second lesson she was almost ready to give up, but God had other plans for her.

Cassandra later shared with me how a miracle had happened at the very point when she most wanted to give up. She heard God's voice speak to her. . . with love. At first she couldn't understand how she could be hearing this loving voice because of all of the evil she had done. But in that moment God answered her saying, "You asked me for help, didn't you?" As she closed her eyes, she could see a flight of brightly lit stairs leading upwards, and an overwhelming feeling of awe overtook her like she had never experienced before. It was one of the happiest days of her life.

As a result, Cassandra reapplied herself to the Binding Up the Brokenhearted Bible study with a new eagerness to learn and heal. It was amazing for me to watch God work in Cassandra's life in real time during the study. I could see circumstances happening in her life that were relevant to what she was learning in that week's lesson.

One example was during a time when Cassandra was struggling with the temptation of sex outside of marriage. God timed everything just right. Our lesson that week was about God's perfect design for sexual intimacy.

Another time, while working through the lesson on forgiveness, Cassandra discovered that the woman who had caused her marriage to break up years before was having serious medical problems and was now alone with no one to help her. God moved Cassandra to apply the lessons she was learning about forgiveness to reach out to this other woman. She opened up her home, giving up her own bed to care for her. Cassandra admitted that at first she pursued helping because she knew it was the right thing to do. But as she prayed and tried to look at this woman as Jesus would, a radical thing happened. . . Cassandra actually felt love toward her - a love Christ had given.

As Cassandra said at the time, "I feel as if Jesus is walking with me as I go through this study and He's letting me experience everything in real life."

Cassandra finished the Bible study almost a year ago. She found a church that she is very active in and was baptized last summer. We continue to meet weekly for coffee. She continues to thirst for knowledge of God and fills me in on her growing faith and the gifts God has given her. She hopes to one day be able to help people broken like she was before she found Jesus. Last week she said to me,
"I can't go back to not believing because Godly things keep happening."

Yes, I am so blessed to be a Healing Hearts counselor. God keeps showing me glimpses of heaven!
