Dear Friend,


It was about 2 years ago that I began to see a glimpse of the tide changing in American families regarding same-sex attraction and its ever-increasing prevalence in our culture. I had been teaching abstinence education in a local Middle School. In one particular class, I noticed the teacher having a side-conversation with a group of students during the presentation. After assigning a group activity for students to complete, the teacher asked me if I could step out in the hall with her for a minute.

Knowing that it probably had do to with the disturbance going on while I was speaking, I tried to prepare myself for what she was going to say. A bit assertively, she proceeded to tell me,
"One of the students in class was troubled by what you are teaching because his mom lives with her girlfriend. I believe in your message and all..." as she paused briefly. Then she asked,
"Is there any way you could possibly not mention the word 'marriage' while teaching the curriculum?"


Since that time, I could sense a new tide rolling in that I believed would greatly affect the ability to teach God's truth of waiting to enjoy His gift of sex until marriage... between one man and one woman.

This summer, our Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage in our culture thus redefining marriage for many in our country. Honestly, I don't know how faith-based organizations like Pregnancy Care Centers (who support and facilitate abstinence education in public schools) are going to continue to teach this truth in a way that doesn't get their programs expelled from schools while not compromising truthful teaching regarding marriage.

Healing Hearts remains committed to not compromising the truth of God's Word on this topic while extending God's love, mercy, and grace to those we minister to. We are so thankful that the Lord has allowed us to publish "First Love: Embracing a Love that Lasts" which builds foundational doctrines in a way that young women "get" while addressing tough topics like same-sex attraction.

Let's face it! This generation is tempted more than any other to compromise the truth of God's Word because of their own sin struggles, lifestyle choices of loved ones, and pressures at school, work, and social events to condone same-sex relationships.

While there are many materials on the market teaching adults how to speak the truth in love and minister to those who are hurting and wrestling with this topic, there are not many resources to help teens and young adults. Yet, if you perused your local library's "Teen Section", you would find countless books, videos, and magazines encouraging young adults to fully embrace the choice to do whatever they want with their sexuality, including changing their God-given gender or embracing a same-sex relationship.

Will you join us in helping them fight the good fight of faith and minister to those who are confused and hurting regarding same-sex attraction?
